Once a traditional fishing village, Agia Pelagia is now a seaside resort. Its narrow beach, which is located in a sheltered bay, is lined with sunbeds and is popular for jet skiing and diving. In front of the beach there are scattered shops with handmade souvenirs, beach bars and seafood restaurants. Inland, the whitewashed Monastery of Agia Pelagia, a former monastery, dates back to the Venetian period.
The bad weather is in progress on the afternoon of Saturday 15/10, with heavy rainfall recorded in the eastern continental parts and mainly in Crete.
