It is considered the most famous beach of the island and one of its main attractions, since in recent years it has gathered a lot of people. It is located in the northern part of the island, in the Municipality of Pylareon, 30 km north of Argostoli. The nearest village is Divarata, 2.5 km south of the beach. It has white pebbles and blue waters due to the currents in the area. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and is about 800 meters long. At the edge there is a small cave.
The beach has been awarded the blue flag and has been named 11 times the best beach in Greece in a poll by thalassa.gr, more than any other beach. Myrtos is an organized beach, with a canteen, umbrellas, sunbeds and a lifeguard. The beach is dangerous because as an open bay, big waves appear during bad weather, and many swimmers have died. The Cultural Summer, a music festival of the municipality of Pylareon, is organized on the beach every August.
