Xiaomi smart glasses can combine imaging systems and sensors in a subtle and familiar spectacle design via MicroLED optical waveguide technology. Weighing just 51g, the Xiaomi Smart Glasses are capable of displaying messages and alerts, making calls, navigating, taking photos and translating text right in front of your eyes.

To match the shape of ordinary glasses, Xiaomi smart glasses adopt MicroLED imaging technology to reduce the design volume required to be usable, as well as the overall weight of the device. To fit the imaging system smoothly into the small dimensions required, MicroLED is undoubtedly the best choice. As with OLEDs, the pixels in MicroLED are illuminated separately, allowing for a brighter screen with deeper black. But MicroLED technology offers higher pixel density and longer operating time while having a simpler structure. This allows for a more compact display, as well as easier integration.

Xiaomi Smart Glasses have a screen chip measuring just 2.4mm x 2.02mm. The screen has individual pixels of size 4 μm, which allows it to fit perfectly in the frame of the glasses. To get enough light out of the required complex optical structures before it reaches the eye even in direct sunlight, Xiaomi has opted for a highly efficient monochrome display solution that is capable of reaching a maximum brightness of 2 million nits.

The MicroLED screen of the glasses also adopts optical waveguide technology that refracts light at 180 °, accurately transmits light beams to the human eye through the tiny mesh structure of the optical lens, Xiaomi reports.

A standalone device and not just a secondary screen of the smartphone

The Xiaomi Smart Glasses incorporate a total of 497 components, including tiny sensors and communication modules, so it is not just a "second screen" for your smartphone, but instead functions as a new smart device with independent operation. In addition to the basics, display notifications, calls, etc., it can also independently perform functions such as navigation, photo capture, visual text, and real-time text and photo translations. The basic interaction logic has also been applied to minimize breaks in difficult times and display important information in a timely manner when needed.
