NASA, for its part, has been preparing a manned mission to Mars for several years, but without rushing. To date, no possible date has been leaked for this mission by the US space agency. However, on the occasion of the announcement issued by NASA for the search for volunteers in a program simulating Martian conditions, it became known that its intention is to carry out its manned mission in 2037.
Most likely the astronauts of the first mission to Mars will stay on the ship that will transport them there. But then the infrastructure will have to be created to house first the astronauts of the next missions and later the people who decide to move to the Red Planet. In this context, NASA is organizing an experiment in which it is looking for volunteer citizens to take part. Volunteers will be invited to live for one year locked in a house intended for use as a place to live on Mars.
According to "Naftemporiki", the building is called Mars Dune Alpha, it has an area of 160 square meters. meters and is a product of 3D printing. The program will have three phases with the first starting in 2022. In each phase the house will have four people living where they will experience conditions similar to those they would experience if they were on Mars.
Food and water will be limited, the equipment of the house will also be limited and designed so that it breaks down so that the residents try to find some solutions as it would happen in real conditions. The communication of the inhabitants with the outside world will be limited and adapted to the communication possibilities that the inhabitants of Mars will have.
