After the completion of the audits, the corresponding Joint Ministerial Decisions were issued, according to which a waterway permit is granted, both in the port of Rethymno and in Ios, while at the same time the implementation of the initiative of the South Aegean Region to create 30 waterways Cyclades and Dodecanese. Now, the islands have the opportunity to carry out the necessary actions for the construction of waterfront facilities, always based on the recommendations, restrictions and conditions of the Approval of Environmental Terms (AEPO) of the port projects.

Seaplanes will be another safe way to access the islands and move from one island to another, facilitating transportation, especially during peak times. As for Rethymno, it seems that the waterfront is only the beginning of a network throughout the island, which will allow easier access and connection with other islands. Respectively, Ios opens the way to the Cyclades and the southern Aegean and it seems that we will soon experience the experience of seaplane flight.
