Most aerospace concepts include propellers or propellers somewhere on the fuselage to take the boat off, but Jetoptera's J-2000 differs in that it uses a special propulsion system called FPS (fluidic propulsion systems).

According to the New Atlas, it relies on fluid dynamics to take a relatively small stream of compressed air and use it to absorb a larger volume of ambient air at high speeds. Eventually a kind of negative pressure is created which results in the lift of the aircraft.

Although there are still many unknown aspects of this technology, it is estimated that batteries with a higher energy density will be needed to be able to operate on electricity. At present the plan includes conventional fuel engines.

According to the company, among its advantages are the small dimensions and the fact that the fluid propulsion systems are silent. The aircraft will have a maximum take-off weight of 907 kg and Jetoptera is planning a whole "family" of aircraft, which will include aircraft designed for speeds of 644 km / h with a range of 644 km, as well as smaller versions with lower speeds but longer range. It is still in the prototype phase, while the company estimates that it is very likely that there will be contracts with the US Armed Forces.
