Raj Dhaliwal is the current Councillor for Ward 5, elected on October 18, 2021 to represent Calgary’s largest and fastest-growing ward, which includes communities like Castleridge, Falconridge, Redstone, Skyview Ranch, and Saddle Ridge. He brings a people‑first philosophy to city governance, emphasizing safety, accessibility, economic opportunity, community cohesion, arts and culture, and infrastructure improvements.

Since taking office, Raj Dhaliwal has championed major investments, including $109 million for the Northeast Athletic Complex, significant increases in Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) funding in both 2023 and 2024, and nearly $16 million toward pavement rehabilitation across the ward He also leads initiatives to expand park spaces, benches and pathways, improve tree canopy coverage, and address traffic congestion around Calgary International Airport through targeted transit plans
