We’re based in Sydney, and our Golden Retriever sheds heavily, especially during spring. The current carpet traps so much fur and is impossible to keep clean no matter how often we vacuum. I’m starting to think carpet isn’t practical for pet owners like us. Do carpet layers install flooring that’s easier to clean and more resistant to shedding issues?

Totally get how that feels – I’ve got a Border Collie and the amount of fur he drops in spring is ridiculous. I had carpet before and no matter how much I vacuumed it just held onto the hair. I ended up switching over to hybrid flooring and it’s been way easier to keep clean, plus it still feels warm enough underfoot in winter. The carpet layers I used were able to rip up the old stuff and install the new boards without much fuss. If you’re weighing up options, I reckon it’s worth checking out some of the
flooring experts in Sydney – I found them handy when I was trying to compare pet-friendly flooring choices.
