Just a week after breaking the $ 3,000 barrier, Ether surpassed the $ 4,000 mark.
Last week, Nigel Green, founder and CEO of deVere Group, predicted that Ether would soon surpass $ 5,000, amid "growing recognition that cryptocurrencies are the future of money."
The second largest cryptocurrency in capitalization has been rallying in recent months. In particular, Ether rose more than 30% last week and the cryptocurrency capitalization now stands at $ 460 billion, according to CoinMarketCap.com.
It is noted that Ether has risen more than 437% since the beginning of the year so far.
Bitcoin, meanwhile, is "flirting" with $ 60,000 for the first time since April 17, moving to $ 59,287, according to Coindesk.
