Essentially, this allows a 13-inch panel to be transformed into a much larger 17-inch screen with a simple pull, which unfolds a hidden portion of the screen. We've seen ideas like this on a number of phones, including an unreleased smartphone from LG that was in the works before the company shut down its mobile division. In fact, we've only seen this kind of display in concepts, as no phones using it have been released yet. the same is true in the case of Samsung's 17-inch sliding screen for computers.
There is a very good chance that we will see devices implementing this technology, but there are some challenges when talking about a display like this. The technology can work well for a tablet, but some concessions will have to be made to fit this kind of display into a proper laptop. That said, a tablet could probably include a magnetically attached keyboard that doesn't interfere with the display mechanism, so it's not entirely unreasonable to imagine a product using it.
